Cultivated throughout the tropics as a coloring for lipstick, cloth, soap, paint and cheese. Used in Latin American Cuisine in place of the more expensive Saffron for coloring and flavoring in rice, stews, soup and meat. Zones 9-11, indoors or greenhouse. Used medicinally.
