Korean Fir
Abies Koreana
"A native of peninsular of Korea and off shore islands, Korean Fir is a very popular and hardy garden ornamental. Cones at an early age. Cones violet purple. This plant is doing very well at our nursery/garden. The smallness of the tree and the ornamental value of it makes it highly desirable for the small garden. It has a symmetrical and uniformly tapering habit. Bark smooth, with resin blisters, then furrowed and plate-like, purplish then pale gray, inner-bark reddish-brown. Leaves crowded, spreading upwards and outwards, nearly spirally arranged, straight, linear, keeled below, shiny green above, bluish-white below. Female cone broadly rounded, blunt-topped, 2-3 inches long, blue-gray then dark violet with white resin spots. Zones 6-8"
